Printed T-Shirts Design & History
The original designed T-shirt is a short-sleeved shirt without buttons, collars and pockets, with a round neck and pulled on over the head. Now, there are long-sleevedT-shirts, sleeveless tank top or wife beater(tank top worn over another shirt, like an athletic shirt) and imagine, a half-cap sleeve. You can also purchase T-shirts designed with pockets. A T-shirt normal length was waist high. A Lady designed T-shirt dress has a length that falls just above the knees and the popular oversized T-shirt is worn by teenagers and young adults. A more recent female trend is a tight-fitted, half T-shirt, exposing the belly button. Ladies usually wear a bra beneath their T-shirt. T-shirt HistoryDuring World War I, US soldiers sweated heavily in their wool uniforms, unlike their counterparts, the Europeans sweated far less. The americans noted the European's light cotton undershirt. Soon, the comfortable undershirt became popular with the americans — the T-shirts were born. By World War II, T-shirts had became a part of the undergarment gear for the US army and the US navy. From 1946 the T-shirt began to become popular without a covering shirt. John Wayne, Marlon Brando and James Dean are credited with popularizing T-shirts on national TV. In 1955, James Dean wore the T-shirt in the film, "Rebel Without A Cause". Since then T-shirt exploded on the fashion scene. During the mid 1960s, the Ringer T-shirt was introduced into the United Sates and harness by the rock 'n' roller culture. The Ringer Tee peaked in the late70s and was surpassed by other fashions in the early 80s. The Ringer T-shirt was designed with the collar and sleeve ends the same color, but the t-shirt itself was a complimenting or contrasting color. By 1960s artisans were experimenting with custom t-shirt screen printing and tie-dying T-shirts. New variety of T-shirt appeared, scoop neck, V-neck, tank top, muscle shirt and wife beater.
