Embroidered bullion, crest and emblem are also known as patches. Patches are decorated with colored thread and twill background. Twill is a woven fabric crafted by diagonal weave; by passing yarn over and under the warp. A common pattern is over one and under two warp threads. This produces a smooth, soft-ribbed fabric like flannel, cotton cloth, gabardine and denim.
Custom embroidery designs also look magnificent on promotional items such as work shirts, uniforms, baseball caps, jackets, pillow cases, table cloth, tote bags, linens, sportswear, towels, trousers, t-shirts, embroidered cards and more…
The artwork or logo design is digitized and stitched on white or colored twill by commercial embroidery machine needlework or sewing. Logo digitizing is the process of converting the artwork to stitches. The embroidery machine read the stitch file made by a software program.
The machine embroidery will retain the same quality of the stitching on one piece as on a thousands pieces.
Logo embroidery is not all stitching, the design usually run from 50% to 80% embroidered stitch. In rare cases, the tread stitching covers the entire decorative design.
Clear, simple graphics—not too many colors, font style and size make a well crafted emblem. Choosing the right tread type and colors are critical to the emblem’s finished look. Be sure to send a color sample to the embroidery company to match them with their thread samples.
To receive the best results the embroidery company will need to know the following:
Apparel type: Shirt, t-shirt, apron, cap, bag and jacket.
Fabric type: Denim, twill, pique, cotton, jersey, leather, fleece, etc.
Fabric weight: 6oz, 8oz, 14oz and up.
The placement of the design: Left chest, front center, back or sleeve,
Actual size of the emblem’s artwork: Width x Height and a color copy.
It is recommended that you asked an embroidery company to make a sample before mass production because of the different machines, fabrics and threads used and the differences in personal tastes.
The proper size for your custom logo shirt patch is determined by its intended use: For the shirt and jacket pocket or shoulder - 3½” to 5” sizes. For hats - 2½" to 3½" sizes are more common. Shirt back patches can range from 6" x 10" to 8" x 12" sizes. The larger the Patches the more expensive they are.
The finished emblem is attached to the logo shirt or apparel by sewing or heat sealing.
It is not uncommon for individuals to select a qualified Custom Digitizing Company to have their logos or designs digitized. By having the original digitized files, you can choose the Embroidery Company of your choice.
It is always best to create patches design in vector base software rather than raster
software. For top quality emblem design, please check with Embroidery Company for file specifications (AI, BMP, EPS, GIF, JPG, PNG, TIFF, etc).
A number of factors determine the pricing of Embroidery Patches:
Remember, if you’re looking for quality embroidered shirt logos or promotional embroidery that appeals to a more professional appearance then silk screen printing or digital printing, embroidered patches is the right way to go.
