Ironing a stain may make the stain more permanent. Use bottled (distilled) water to full the iron reservoir before plugging it in. Although some irons use tap water, in the long run it's still best to use distilled water to avoid rapid mineral deposit build up from clogging the iron's pores. Check the shirt fabric label tag inside the shirt collar. Pay attention to the shirt ironing instructions or the shirt fabric label care symbols. If the terry cloth or the padding on the iron board is to thin, spread a large bath towel on top.
